Compress a photo to under 200 KB for visa, passport and job applications. Free, private and done in your browser.

Passport, visa and job portals often accept photos and scanned documents up to 200 KB. The 200 KB target is already selected: drop your images and each one is saved just under 200 KB with the best quality the size allows. Nothing is uploaded: everything runs in your browser.

JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 25 MB.

Up to 30 images at once.

or paste an image from your clipboard (Ctrl+V)

Target file size
Enter a size between 1 KB and 50 MB.

Each image is saved just under this size. 1 KB counts as 1,000 bytes, so files also pass the strictest upload checks.

Output format

PNG cannot be shrunk by quality, so PNG files are saved as JPG or WebP. Only WebP keeps transparency: JPG gets a white background. With "Same as original", a transparent PNG becomes WebP and any other PNG becomes JPG.

Dimensions

When lowering the quality is not enough to reach the size, the image is scaled down step by step until it fits.

Optional: images larger than this are scaled down first, keeping their proportions.

Your images never leave your device: everything runs in your browser.

About Compress Image to 200KB

This free tool compresses an image to under 200 KB. A 200 KB limit is common on passport and visa portals, job applications and scholarship forms, for photos as well as scanned documents such as certificates or ID cards.

For every image, the browser searches the encoder quality step by step and keeps the highest quality that still fits under 200 KB. When lowering the quality is not enough, it scales the image down gradually until it fits, and an image that is already under 200 KB is kept as it is. A target counts 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so the file also passes the strictest upload checks.

You can add up to 30 images at once, save them as JPG or WebP (or keep the original format), cap the width and height, and download one file or everything as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded: the compression runs entirely in your browser, so your photos stay private. Need another size? Pick any other chip or type your own value.

How to use Compress Image to 200KB

  1. The 200 KB target is already selected; change it if your form asks for another size.
  2. Choose the output format: JPG, WebP or the same as the original.
  3. Drop up to 30 images (JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF), or paste one with Ctrl+V.
  4. Check each result with the before and after slider and its final size.
  5. Download a single image, or all of them as a ZIP file.

Frequently asked questions

Drop the image here and download the result: the 200 KB target is already set. The tool keeps the highest quality that fits and shows the final size before you download.

Yes. A scanned certificate, ID card or mark sheet compresses well at 200 KB and the text stays readable. Save it as JPG for the widest form compatibility.

Only when it is needed. The tool lowers the quality first and reduces the dimensions only if that is not enough. You can turn this off or set a maximum width and height yourself.

No. The whole compression runs in your browser, so your images never leave your device and the tool works even with private documents.
