About Voice Typing
Voice Typing turns your speech into text as you talk — press start, dictate, and watch your words appear live in the editor. It uses your browser’s built-in speech recognition (the Web Speech API), so recognition happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded to our servers.
Pick your dictation language, then speak naturally; interim words appear as you talk and settle into final text. Say “comma,” “period,” “question mark” or “new line” to add punctuation as you go. The transcript box is a real editor too — you can type, correct and rearrange text alongside your dictation.
When you are done, copy the text to your clipboard or download it as a .txt file; a live word counter tracks your progress. The tool is free, but note that it depends on the browser: it works best in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, and some browsers do not support speech recognition at all.
How to use Voice Typing
- Choose your dictation language.
- Click “Start dictation” and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
- Speak naturally — say “comma,” “period,” “question mark” or “new line” for punctuation.
- Edit the transcript directly in the text box; you can type and dictate in the same document.
- Click Stop, then copy the text or download it as a .txt file.
