About Instrument Tuner
The Instrument Tuner is a chromatic tuner that listens through your microphone and tells you exactly what you are playing. Play a single note and it shows the closest note name, the frequency in hertz, and how many cents sharp or flat you are, with a clear in-tune indication when you land it.
Because it is chromatic, it works for any pitched instrument — guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, brass, woodwinds or voice — in any tuning, not just standard. There is nothing to install: allow microphone access, press Start tuning, and adjust until the needle settles on “In tune.”
Pitch detection runs entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your microphone audio is analyzed locally and never leaves your device — nothing is recorded or uploaded — and the tuner is free with no credits charged.
How to use Instrument Tuner
- Click “Start tuning” and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
- Play a single, sustained note on your instrument.
- Read the display: the closest note, the frequency in Hz, and how many cents sharp or flat you are.
- Adjust your tuning until the tuner reads “In tune,” then repeat for each string or note.
- Click Stop when you are finished.
