About Online Timer

The online timer counts down any duration right in your browser — no app or install. Start from a quick preset or set a custom time in hours, minutes and seconds, add a label like “Tea break”, and hit Start. A full-screen mode makes it readable across a room.

Timing is anchored to a timestamp rather than counting ticks, so the countdown stays accurate even if the tab is in the background. When time is up, an alarm sounds — optionally repeating until you stop it — and the browser tab title flashes “Time’s up!” so you notice from another tab.

Pause, resume and reset controls cover interruptions, making it a free everyday timer for cooking, workouts, study sprints, meetings and classroom activities.

How to use Online Timer

  1. Pick a quick preset or enter a custom duration in hours, minutes and seconds.
  2. Optionally add a label and enable “Repeat the beep until I stop it”.
  3. Press Start — pause, resume or reset whenever you need.
  4. Switch to fullscreen for a large, glanceable display.
  5. When the alarm rings, hit Stop alarm to silence it.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The end time is stored as a timestamp, so the remaining time is always computed from the clock — switching tabs or letting the tab throttle does not make it drift.

The tab title flashes “⏰ Time's up!” so it stands out in your tab bar, and the beep plays. Enable the repeat-beep option to keep the sound going until you stop it.

Browsers block audio until you have interacted with the page. Since you click Start to launch the timer, sound normally works — if it is still blocked, the timer shows a notice instead.

Yes. Pause freezes the remaining time, Resume continues from exactly where you stopped, and Reset returns to your configured duration so you can run the same timer again.

No. The timer runs entirely in your browser — durations, labels and the alarm are all local, and it keeps counting without any network connection.
