The Age Calculator works out an exact age from a date of birth: the precise number of years, months and days, plus the age expressed as total months, total weeks, total days and total hours. It also counts down to the next birthday.

Age is counted in full calendar years, months and days, so varying month lengths and leap years are handled correctly — the years figure only increments on the actual birthday. You can compute the age today or at any other date you choose, past or future.

People use it to fill in official forms that ask for age in years and months, check eligibility cut-offs at a given date, or find out exactly how many days old someone is. It is free and runs entirely in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

The calculator counts complete calendar years from the birth date, then complete months, then remaining days. Because it uses real calendar lengths, leap years and 28–31-day months are all accounted for automatically.

Yes. Change the “Age at date” field to any date — past or future — to see how old the person was, or will be, on that exact day. This helps with eligibility deadlines and historical records.

The tool finds the next occurrence of the birth date’s day and month after the reference date and shows how long remains. If the reference date is the birthday itself, it says “Today!”.

The calculation uses real calendar arithmetic, so a February 29 birth date is measured against actual calendar dates. In non-leap years the year completes at the start of March.

Totals convert the same lifespan into single units — for example 10,000 days or 350,000 hours. They are popular for milestone celebrations and useful when a form asks for age in weeks or days.
