Flooring Calculator
Work out how much flooring you need — enter your room size and box coverage to get the total area, waste allowance, number of boxes and estimated cost.
About Flooring Calculator
The flooring calculator works out how much laminate, vinyl, hardwood or tile flooring to buy for a room. Enter the room’s length and width in metric or imperial units, the coverage printed on each box and a waste allowance, and it returns the floor area, the area including waste and the number of boxes to order.
Waste is the figure people forget: cuts at walls, doorways and pattern matching consume material beyond the bare floor area. A 10% allowance suits straightforward straight layouts, while diagonal patterns or rooms with many alcoves and cuts warrant 15–20%. Box counts are always rounded up so you never come up one plank short.
Tick the cost option and add the price per square metre or square foot to get an estimated total before you visit the store. The calculator is free and instant, making it easy to compare products with different box coverages.
