About Webcam Test
The Webcam Test confirms your camera works before the meeting starts. Click start, allow camera access, and a live preview appears along with the facts that matter: the actual resolution the camera delivers, the aspect ratio, the live frame rate and the device name reported by your system.
If you have several cameras — a laptop’s built-in one plus an external USB webcam — a device picker lets you switch between them and verify each. A mirror toggle flips the preview horizontally, and a snapshot button captures a still frame that you can download to judge sharpness and color.
Privacy is absolute: the video stream stays on your device. Nothing is recorded, stored or uploaded — the preview and snapshots are rendered locally in your browser, and stopping the test releases the camera immediately.
How to use Webcam Test
- Click “Start webcam test” and allow camera access when the browser asks.
- Check the live preview and the reported resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate.
- Switch cameras with the device picker if you have more than one.
- Toggle “Mirror image” to view the preview the way others see you or the way a mirror shows you.
- Take a snapshot and download it to inspect sharpness and color.
- Click Stop to end the test and release the camera.
