About Barcode Generator

The barcode generator renders scannable 1D barcodes in five symbologies — Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13, EAN-8 and UPC-A — live in your browser, with nothing uploaded. Type a value and the preview updates instantly, validating characters and length for the chosen symbology as you go.

Retail codes are handled properly: enter 12 digits for EAN-13 (or 11 for UPC-A) and the check digit is calculated and appended automatically; enter the full number and the check digit is verified instead, with a clear error if it is wrong. Code 128 accepts any ASCII text, making it the safe default for logistics and internal labels.

Presentation controls cover bar height, bar width and whether the human-readable value prints under the bars. Export as PNG for documents or SVG for crisp label printing at any size — the output keeps black bars on white with a proper quiet zone, exactly what laser and camera scanners expect.

How to use Barcode Generator

  1. Pick a symbology: Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13, EAN-8 or UPC-A.
  2. Type or paste the value — validation and check-digit handling happen live.
  3. Adjust the bar height and width, and toggle the printed value under the bars.
  4. Check the live preview, then download the barcode as PNG or SVG, or copy the image.

Frequently asked questions

Code 128 for shipping and internal use — it encodes any ASCII text compactly. EAN-13 and EAN-8 for retail products worldwide, UPC-A for North American retail, and Code 39 where legacy industrial systems require it.

Yes — free and unlimited, with the barcodes generated entirely in your browser. Nothing you encode is uploaded.

For EAN-13, EAN-8 and UPC-A, enter the number without its final digit and the correct check digit is added automatically. If you enter the full number, the tool verifies the check digit and flags a mismatch instead of printing a bad code.

Each symbology has rules: EAN and UPC accept digits only, at a fixed length; Code 39 allows A–Z, 0–9, space and a few symbols; Code 128 needs ASCII characters. The status line tells you exactly what is missing or extra.

Yes. The export renders black bars on a white background with the quiet zone scanners require. For print labels, prefer the SVG download so the bars stay razor-sharp at any size.
