About Waist-to-Hip Ratio Calculator
The waist-to-hip ratio calculator divides your waist circumference by your hip circumference to produce WHR, a simple screening number for how your body stores fat. Because it is a ratio, it works identically in centimeters or inches.
Your result is placed into the World Health Organization risk categories, which differ by sex: for men, low risk below 0.90 and high risk above 0.99; for women, low risk below 0.80 and high above 0.84, with moderate in between. The tool also names your body-shape type — pear, with fat carried lower, or apple, with fat concentrated around the waist.
Abdominal fat correlates with cardiovascular and metabolic risk more strongly than overall weight, which is why WHR complements BMI. The calculator is free and instant in your browser.
