Frequently asked questions

The mean is the arithmetic average (sum ÷ count). The median is the middle value of the sorted list and resists outliers. The mode is the most frequent value. Together they describe a data set’s center from three angles.

A mode only exists when at least one value repeats. If every number in your list occurs exactly once, no value is “most frequent”, so the calculator reports that there is no mode.

Yes. When several values tie for the highest frequency, the set is multimodal and the calculator lists all of them — for example 7 and 15 if both appear three times.

When the data contains outliers. One extreme salary can drag the mean far above what most people earn, while the median stays at the typical middle value. Compare both to spot skewed data.
