About XML Sitemap Generator

The XML Sitemap Generator turns a plain list of URLs into a valid sitemap.xml ready to submit to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. Paste one URL per line; the tool validates each entry, counts valid and invalid lines, and writes standards-compliant <urlset> XML as you type.

Optional defaults apply to every URL: a change frequency (always through never), a priority value, and a switch that stamps today's date as <lastmod>. Any of them can be omitted, since search engines treat changefreq and priority as hints at best.

A single sitemap file supports up to 50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed — the tool warns you and includes only the first 50,000 if you exceed the limit, in which case you should split into multiple sitemaps referenced by a sitemap index. Everything is generated in your browser; your URL list never leaves the page.

How to use XML Sitemap Generator

  1. Paste your URLs into the input, one per line, or load the sample list.
  2. Check the valid/invalid counter and fix any lines flagged as invalid.
  3. Set optional defaults: change frequency, priority, and whether to stamp today as lastmod.
  4. Review the generated XML and its entry count in the output panel.
  5. Copy the sitemap or download sitemap.xml, upload it to your site, and submit the URL to the search engines.

Frequently asked questions

Up to 50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed per file. Larger sites should split URLs across several sitemaps and list them in a sitemap index file.

No. Both are optional hints, and major search engines largely ignore them. The generator lets you omit either by selecting "None".

Upload sitemap.xml to your site, then submit its URL in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. Referencing it with a Sitemap: line in robots.txt also helps discovery.

It tells crawlers when a page last changed, which can encourage recrawling of updated content. The "Set lastmod to today" switch stamps the current date on every entry.

Yes. The sitemap is built entirely in your browser — no URL is uploaded — and the generator is free without limits.
