About Archive Files Converter
The Archive Files Converter repackages an archive from one format to another: convert between ZIP, 7z, TAR, TAR.GZ, TAR.BZ2, GZ and BZ2, with RAR accepted as input. Upload an archive, pick a target and download the repacked file — useful when a recipient cannot open the format you were given.
The tool detects the source format from the file itself — it even distinguishes a gzipped tarball from a plain gzipped file by inspecting the stream — and only offers target formats the server can actually produce, so every listed option works. Single-stream formats like GZ and BZ2 compress exactly one file, and the page says so up front.
Conversion happens locally on this server using the standard archive tools; your file is never passed to a third-party service, and uploaded archives and results are cleaned up automatically. The tool is free to use.
How to use Archive Files Converter
- Drop your archive onto the page or click to browse — ZIP, 7z, RAR, TAR, TAR.GZ, TAR.BZ2, GZ or BZ2, up to the shown size limit.
- Check the detected source format shown under the file.
- Pick a target format; unavailable options and the source format itself are disabled.
- Click Convert and wait while the archive is unpacked and repacked.
- Download the converted file, or use “Repack to another format” to produce a second variant without re-uploading.
