About Memory Match

Memory Match is the digital version of the classic card-pairs game, sometimes called Concentration: all cards start face down, you flip two at a time, and matching pairs stay revealed. The challenge is remembering where the faces you have already seen are hiding.

Three board sizes — 4×4, 6×4 and a demanding 6×6 — let you scale the difficulty from a quick warm-up to a serious memory workout. The game counts your moves and time, so you can chase efficiency as well as completion. Memory games like this are a pleasant way to exercise short-term recall, and this one is free, browser-based and works great on touch screens.

How to use Memory Match

  1. Choose a board size: 4×4 for a quick game, 6×4 for medium, or 6×6 for the full challenge.
  2. Click or tap any card to flip it face up.
  3. Flip a second card — if the two faces match, the pair stays revealed.
  4. If they don’t match, both flip back down; remember what you saw and where.
  5. Match every pair to win — the results show your moves and time, so try to finish in as few moves as possible.

Frequently asked questions

Each pair of flips counts as one move, whether or not the cards match. A perfect 4×4 game therefore takes a minimum of eight moves, though realistically you will need a few extra to scout the board.

In the early game, flip cards you have not seen rather than guessing at pairs, and anchor each face to its position. Once a few faces are mapped, chain confirmed matches quickly before you forget the layout.

Start with 4×4 (8 pairs) to learn the rhythm, then move up to 6×4 (12 pairs) and 6×6 (18 pairs). The larger boards demand real spatial memory rather than short-term luck.

It exercises visual short-term memory and concentration in an enjoyable way. While no game guarantees cognitive gains, pairs games are a low-stress method of practicing focused recall at any age.

Yes — tap to flip cards on any touch device. The game is free, runs in the browser and requires no installation or account.
