About Mahjong Solitaire
Mahjong Solitaire is a single-player tile-matching game built from the beautiful tiles of the traditional Chinese four-player game. The digital form dates to 1981, when Brodie Lockard created it on the PLATO system; it later spread worldwide as “Shanghai” and became one of the most popular casual computer games ever.
The tiles are stacked in a layered layout, and only “free” tiles — those with nothing on top and an open left or right side — can be matched. Remove all the tiles in pairs to win. This version includes a hint button that reveals a matchable pair, a shuffle for when no moves remain, a tiles-left counter and a completion timer. Play mahjong solitaire free in your browser, no download needed.
