About Block Puzzle

Block Puzzle is a falling-blocks game in the grand tradition started by Tetris in 1984: pieces made of four squares drop from the top, and your job is to steer and rotate them into complete horizontal rows. Full rows vanish, the stack drops, and the pace gradually accelerates.

Clearing several rows with a single piece scores far more than clearing them one at a time, so smart players leave a deep well for a well-timed vertical piece. This version shows the next piece in advance, supports both keyboard rotation directions, has soft and hard drops, and tracks lines, level and best score — all free in your browser.

How to use Block Puzzle

  1. Move the falling piece left and right with the arrow keys.
  2. Rotate it with Up or X for clockwise, and Z for counter-clockwise.
  3. Press Down to soft-drop, or Space to slam the piece down instantly.
  4. Complete an entire row to clear it — clear several rows at once for much bigger points.
  5. Check the Next preview to plan ahead, and press P or Esc to pause.
  6. The game ends when the stack reaches the top, so keep the board low.

Frequently asked questions

Points come from cleared lines, and multi-line clears pay a premium — clearing four rows with one vertical piece is worth far more than four separate single clears. The level rises with your line count, speeding up the fall.

Soft drop (Down) speeds up the descent while you keep control; hard drop (Space) locks the piece to the bottom instantly. Use hard drop once you are certain of the placement to save time.

Keep the stack flat, avoid burying holes under blocks, and reserve one column as a well for long pieces. Use the Next preview to plan two placements ahead instead of reacting piece by piece.

Yes — press P or Esc to pause and the same key to resume. The board is hidden or frozen while paused, so no time pressure builds up.

Completely. It runs in your browser without a download or account, and your best score sticks around on your device.
