The A1C to Blood Sugar Converter translates an A1C percentage into an estimated average glucose (eAG) and back again, in both mg/dL and mmol/L. A1C reflects the share of haemoglobin that has become glycated, which tracks your average blood sugar over roughly the previous two to three months — far longer than any single finger-stick reading.
The conversion uses the American Diabetes Association formula from the A1C-Derived Average Glucose (ADAG) study: eAG (mg/dL) = 28.7 × A1C − 46.7, and eAG (mmol/L) = 1.59 × A1C − 2.59. So an A1C of 7% corresponds to an average glucose of about 154 mg/dL or 8.6 mmol/L.
