Internet Speed Test
Measure your download speed, upload estimate, latency (ping) and jitter right in the browser, no app or plugin needed. Free.
- The test runs in your browser against a public test server. Results are estimates and depend on your network, server load and device.
- Download speed and latency are measured in your browser and are estimates. For a binding measurement use your ISP's official tool.
About Internet Speed Test
The Internet Speed Test measures your connection from inside the browser, no app, plugin or account. Press Start and it first measures latency: a series of small requests to this site’s server yields your ping (the median round-trip time) and jitter (how much that time fluctuates between requests).
It then measures download throughput by repeatedly fetching a test file from the server for several seconds, counting the bytes received and updating the megabits-per-second figure live as it runs. When the run completes you get three numbers side by side: ping in milliseconds, jitter in milliseconds and download speed in Mbps, with a Test again button for repeat runs.
Results are estimates. They depend on your Wi-Fi or cable link, everything else using your network at that moment, your device’s speed and the load on the test server, so treat the numbers as a practical health check rather than a contractual measurement, and use your ISP’s official tool when a binding figure matters.
How to use Internet Speed Test
- Close bandwidth-heavy apps and downloads so they don’t skew the measurement.
- Press Start test and keep the tab in the foreground while it runs.
- Watch the phases: latency is measured first, then download throughput with a live Mbps readout.
- Read your ping, jitter and download results on the summary cards.
- Press Test again to repeat: running the test a few times gives a more reliable picture.
