Wind Chill Calculator
Find the feels-like temperature from air temperature and wind speed with the official NWS wind chill formula, plus frostbite risk bands.
Over Wind Chill Calculator
The Wind Chill Calculator tells you how cold the air actually feels on exposed skin once the wind is factored in. Enter the air temperature and the wind speed in either metric or imperial units and it returns the wind chill temperature, how many degrees colder it feels than the thermometer reading, a risk level and an estimated frostbite time.
It uses the wind chill index adopted by the US National Weather Service and Environment Canada in 2001, which replaced the older 1945 formula. That model assumes a wind measurement at face height (about 1.5 m), no sunshine, and heat loss from bare skin — which is why it is defined only at or below 10 °C (50 °F) with wind above 4.8 km/h (3 mph).
Check it before a winter run, a ski day, a dog walk or an outdoor shift so you know whether hats and gloves are optional or whether exposed skin is at real risk. Free, instant and computed entirely in your browser.
Hoe gebruik je Wind Chill Calculator
- Choose metric (°C, km/h) or imperial (°F, mph) units.
- Enter the current air temperature.
- Enter the wind speed from your forecast or weather station.
- Read the wind chill temperature and how much colder it feels than the actual reading.
- Check the risk level and estimated frostbite time before dressing for the conditions.
