Repair PDF rebuilds a damaged file that will not open. The document is re-read and written out again with a fresh cross-reference table and clean object streams, which is what recovers files that report a broken index, open blank or stop part-way through.
The repair runs on this server: qpdf rewrites the file structure first, Ghostscript re-interprets and re-emits the document when qpdf is not available, and a page-by-page re-stream is the last resort. No AI is involved and your pages are not re-rendered.
What survived the damage comes back; anything already overwritten inside the file cannot be invented. You can queue up to ten damaged PDFs in one go, and several files at once come back bundled into a single ZIP download.
